So, What's Next

The Progressives' burden is that you must keep progressing or you settle for this world's ways just as they are. The Progressive motto is, "We can fix this broken world." Imagine. No war. No weapons. No nations. No restraints on private behavior, that harms no one. No more extermination of any species. No more burning of fossil fuels; only the clean energy of the sun and the wind. No more hunger, crying or pain. No more economic inequality. No longer does race, gender, limiting physical and mental conditions or sexual preferences define a person's character or worth.

Most of these objectives are laudable and few would argue against them as ideals. It is not the aims so much as the means to those aims that separate the two opposing worldviews engaged in a cultural war. If we say "no more wars" how do we address ethnic cleansing or political rape? If we destroy all the weapons kept and developed by the United States, Europe and democratic nations like Israel, by what means would we address the dozens of tyrants who threaten to destroy innocent people? If we limit our energy usage to only the sun and wind, what would are life be like? Would we not need to ration our energy so that parts of the nation is dark some of the time? Would the world really be better if the rich are made poorer and the poor richer? Is their anything short of despotism that would bring about such a brave new world order?

What is the unintended consequences of an ethic based on the unfettered exercise of any and all sexual expression that, purportedly, "harms no one." Are children reared in households where there are two same-gendered persons likely to adopt gender identities that are healthy? What will subsequent generations of families be like? Is a boy raised by two women or two men likely to make a fit father and husband? Is a girl, so reared, prepared to a wife and mother? Especially, given that these men and these woman exhibit deviant expressions of their given gender. Would not this give a positive status of other forms of deviancy? Is anyone harmed by polygamy? Does the "sex worker industry" not have a illegimate role in society?" What harm is their if a twelve year old boy freely choses to have sex with a twenty five year old man - who is harmed? Why can't two siblings enjoy a mutually enjoyable and life sustaining married relationship?

The Church has always played the role in safeguarding God's covenant of Creation by reinforcing natural gender roles and sexual behaviors in general. I can hear progressives now, screaming, "Who says such activities and arrangements are fixed by nature and nature's God?" Perhaps it is nature itself that proves this assertion.

Over two hundred Progressive pastors (Teaching Elders) in the Presbyterian Church (USA) have signed the following declaration.

"As a teaching elder in the PCUSA, I have married or am willing to publicly marry same gender couples in my pastoral role, in obedience to my ordination vow to 'show the love and justice of Jesus Christ.' Respecting the conscience of fellow Presbyterians, I accept the consequences of this declaration, including the provisions of discipline in our Book of Order."

Progressives are now setting the moral teaching for the Presbyterian Church (USA). Children in Progressive minded congregations shall be influenced by their discipleship training. Imagine that! There is no longer an effective conservative or moderate voice in that church body. Naturally, social Progressives believe they are on the side of the angels because their hearts are "in the right place." I just wish Progressives would allow their hearts to listen to their heads. I fear their progress we be our ruination.
